RIP Luke Perry

It has been announced that Luke Perry, star of Riverdale and Beverly Hills 90210, has died after suffering a stroke on Wednesday (27 Feb).

His publicist, Arnold Robinson, said Perry died surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Sophie and his son Jack.

On Wednesday, TMZ reported that Perry was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to his home in Los Angeles. Later, a rep for Perry confirmed to People.com that the actor was “currently under observation at the hospital.” Further reports said that Perry is "sedated". His Riverdale co-stars sent messages of support following the stroke.

His publicist told The Hollywood Reporter"He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time."

Update (19:18): The Riverdale executive producers, Warner Bros. Television, and The CW have released a statement on the passing of Luke Perry.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also shared a message on his Instagram saying: "He was a father, brother, friend, and mentor. Each night before he had to shoot a scene, he’d call me and we’d talk about...everything. I will miss those calls."
