Netflix's new cheerleading docu-series, Cheer, has become everyone's new obsession. The show follows the Navarro College cheer squad on their journey to retain their title as the national collegiate champions – and it is unbelievable from start to finish.

The first season of the show was released on January 8th and almost immediately after dropping online, social media blew up in awe of the talented teenagers on the Navarro Cheer squad. Within 10 days, the students (including Gabi Butler, Morgan Simianer, Jerry Harris and Lexi Brumback) went from being hometown heroes to global superstars – and the internet cannot get enough of iconic head coach, Monica Aldama.

Has Cheer season 2 been confirmed by Netflix?

So far, we've heard no word about second season of the insanely popular documentary series. Given the success and popularity of the show on social media, there's a strong possibility that we might return to Navarro College to watch the 2020 Cheer squad's journey to Daytona. But we'll have to wait and see...

Cheer season 2 release date: When will season 2 come out?

Well, if there is a second season of the show, it will likely air in January 2021.

Should the second season document Navarro's journey to retain their crown, they'll have to start filming pretty soon. The NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona takes place on April 8-12, 2020. If season 2 is structured the same as season 1, we'll see them practicing ahead of their Daytona return.

Alternatively, the series could take a leaf out of Last Chance U's book and feature a different college's journey to the championships in each season.

For those that haven't watched it, Last Chance U is a similar kind of docu-series, except it follows college football teams. Last Chance U has run for four seasons, with the first two seasons focusing on one Community College and the third and fourth season focusing on another.

Either way, we're just dying for some more cheer. We'll take anything.

Cheer season 2 cast: Who will return to the Navarro cheer squad?

Well, the good news is that iconic tumbler Lexi Brumback is still at Navarro, after being welcomed back onto the team by Coach Monica Aldama. In the season 1 finale, Lexi was kicked off the team after police found illegal substances in a car she was in with a group of friends. She shared the news on Instagram with a photo of herself and her team mates alongside the caption, "Honey, I'm home."

Morgan Simianer decided to stay at Navarro for another year too and it also looks like everyone's fave Jerry Harris is still on the squad. Allie Ross is still at Navarro, as well as La'Darius Marshall, who announced on Twitter that he is returning "to give it one last ride with my favorite people of all time."

Stars such as Gabi Butler, Austin Bayles and Mackenzie "Sherbs" Sherburn have all moved on from Navarro, according to their Instagram accounts. But you never know who might return...
