The Netflix cast are reportedly looking to have their pay upped to a figure similar to the 13 Reasons Why's cast salaries.

If you haven't watched Netflix's On My Block yet, what are you waiting for? The Netflix coming-of-age comedy, set in an inner-city Los Angeles neighbourhood, aired its dramatic second season earlier this year and is still going from strength to strength. (It's certified 'Fresh' on Rotten Tomatoes with a 95% rating for season 1, in case you were wondering...)

The show was renewed for a third season in April 2019, just one month after season 2 dropped on the streaming service and while Netflix don't release their viewing figures, it turned out to be the most-binged show of 2018.

Thanks to the success of the show, the main cast (Sierra Capri, Diego Tinoco, Jason Genao and Brett Gray) are now reportedly looking to increase their pay - and they're chasing a figure that mirrors the whopping salary that the cast of 13 Reasons Why are currently earning, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

What is the On My Block cast salary per episode?

Capri (Monse), Tinoco (Cesar), Genao (Ruby) and Gray (Jamal) are all reportedly seeking a raise in their salaries ahead of the upcoming season 3.

For the first two seasons, they are said to have earned $20,000 per episode. Season one and two both contained 10 episodes. Each of the main four cast members would have earned an estimated $400,000 for 18 episodes.

The third season has already been cut down to 8 episodes, based on the creative. If they keep the same salary, the will earn $40,000 less than their work on the first two seasons, despite the growing success of the show, and the actor's profiles.

For the next season, they're looking to up that salary to $218,000 per episode - or $1.75 million for the full eight-episode third season.

What is the 13 Reasons Why cast salary per episode?

As previously reported, the cast of Netflix's controversial teen drama are said to be getting huge pay rises for the third season, which is set to be released at some point this year.

Following the departure of Katherine Langford, lead actor Dylan Minette's pay was bumped from $80,000 per episode to $200,000. Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Miles Heizer, Justin Prentice, Christian Navarro, Devin Druid and Ross Butler saw their pay rise from $20,000 to between $60,000 - $135,000 per episode.

They will also receive another bump up to $150,000 per episode if a fourth season is renewed.

Several Netflix actors and directors have commented on the story, urging the studio to bump the On My Block cast's pay. Orange Is The New Black's Danielle Brooks said "good for them" in reply to one tweet and Dear White People's Ashley Blaine Featherson also pledged her support behind their potential pay rises.

It's customary for cast members to renegotiate higher fees after the first two seasons of their show - especially if that show is successful. While 13 Reasons Why might have a larger domestic and international viewership, the growth and success of On My Block should not be ignored.

On My Block season 3 has already been renewed and is expected to drop at some point in 2020. Here's hoping the squad get their pay rises. It's what they deserve!
