Oscar Isaac has expressed disappointment over the lack of a Finn/Poe Star Wars romance and the internet is obsessed with his truly pure and earnest desire for a gay space love story.

For many fans of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the prospect of Finn and Poe having a romantic relationship, as opposed to a friendship, has been headcanon fodder for a while. Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, isn't just disappointed that Finnpoe never became canon, he seems borderline annoyed. In a new IGN interview promoting Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Oscar Isaac blamed "Disney overlords" for Finnpoe never becoming a thing. His annoyance over the matter has, of course, gone viral and sparked plenty of memes.

"There could have been a very interesting forward-thinking–not even forward-thinking. Just, like, current thinking love story here," he told IGN. "You know it's something that hadn't quite been explored yet, particularly the dynamic between these two men in war that had fallen in love with each other."

He continued: "I would try to push it a bit in that direction, but the Disney overlords were not ready to do that." Okay, so Oscar Isaac has given this some thought, clearly.

Oscar Isaac earnestly fighting for a gay love story between Finn and Poe is so damn pure. The internet is truly obsessed.

He will not REST until Disney knows they've made a mistake.

John and Oscar said 'LET THEM KISS!!!'

Listen. He SAID what he SAID. And that is THAT on THAT.

Okay, Disney. I hear what you're saying but have you considered....boyfriends?

This man is not playing around with ya'll.

Truly. Oscar Isaac is doing the lord's work.

But in all seriousness. There are a million reasons to love Oscar Isaac. His unwavering desire for there to be a gay love story in a mainstream Disney film is just one more reason. It may not have happened in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but opening up the discourse in this way means that the 'overlords' will have more incentive to join us here in the 21st century.

What do you guys think? Should Finn and Poe have been boyfriends? Yes or...yes?
