Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet tied the knot two whole years before we got a glimpse of their second 'engagement' and wedding on Netflix's Selling Sunset.

Selling Sunset is where lovers of real estate and lovers of reality TV drama become one, but recently, questions have been raised over how genuine the Netflix show actually is.

And now, fuel has been added firmly to the fire, as it's been uncovered that Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet got married two years before the show back in 2018.

Given that their engagement and wedding span across two seasons of the show, fans are concerned that this is almost confirmation that the on-screen relationship we saw is a almost a lie.

The real estate broker, 40, and the French model, 27, had their lavish second ceremony play out on-screen at The Oppenheim Group's Doheny Drive listing, where Mary actually ended up selling her wedding venue on the big day.

Although we didn't see it until May 2020, the filming took place in October 2019 – over a year after they had tied the knot.

Mary and Romain's reps confirmed to US Weekly: "Mary and Romain had a civil union a couple of months before the show began filming in June of 2018, but they chose not to tell any of their friends or family, as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term.

"In their minds, they weren't properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show."

Despite their good reasoning for holding off on the official celebrations, fans can't help feel but a little cheated, after we followed their entire fake engagement on the show – including *that* feud with Davina over the ring.

Now, it's possible Mary and Romain fell in love fast and raced to get married, just four months after her divorce. But, viewers of the show will know that the couple were reportedly "taking it slow".

We'll have to wait a little while longer to get the next scandalous instalment from the show, as it's currently paused filming of season 4 due to coronavirus.

We're fairly certain we can expect all of the drama from Heather's new engagement and Brett leaving the brokerage though – and we can't wait.
