Shay Mitchell attended Drake's 33rd birthday party this week and was shamed by people who suggested she shouldn't go out after recently giving birth.

New mum Shay Mitchell has a word for all the parent shamers out there. The Pretty Little Liars actress defended herself this week after Instagram trolls called her out for attending Drake's birthday party with a newborn at home. Shay Mitchell recently welcomed her first daughter with boyfriend Matte Babel.

Earlier this week, Shay posted some photos from Drake's 33rd birthday bash to her Instagram Story. She was soon inundated with parent shaming comments claiming that she was wrong for going to a party so soon after giving birth.

Fans in Shay's Instagram comments even began debating the issue and expressing viewpoints on both sides.

Shay finally addressed the bizarre backlash in an Instagram Story and basically laughed off the criticism.

"I haven't really been checking my comments that often but apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party," she said. "It wasn't three days and I left her with Angel, so..." Btw, Angel is Shay's dog.

Although Shay announced the birth of her daughter last week, she didn't actually announce the day she was born. The announcement likely came a week or two after the actual birth.

Never letting go...

Supporters quickly jumped to Shay's defence, pointing out that new mums don't need to be chained to their babies around the clock.

"She carried a child within her for 40 weeks. She deserves a night out. However a mom gets to celebrate herself and let her hair down after that is her choice," tweeted one fan.

"You going out for a few hours doesn't hurt the baby right, I'm sure she left her child in capable hands. New mothers don't have to stay locked in their home 24/7 to bond with the baby." said another.

Shay responded to that comment and jokingly referenced her dog Angel babysitting once more.

Hours later, Shay posted an Instagram story of herself cuddled up to the newborn with the caption "snuggle buddies".

Mummy shaming is an unfortunate part of being a parent in the public eye. Hopefully, folks can learn to save their judgement and worry about raising their own children instead of others'.
