The 'Sonic The Hedgehog' movie, which had already inspired some hilarious memes, is due for release later this year and is based on the iconic 90s video game of the same name. However, die-hard fans have been skeptical that Paramount Pictures can pull it off and the latest teaser hasn't helped one bit.

In the flick, Sonic (Ben Shwartz) must save the Earth from the evil Dr Robotnik (Jim Carrey) with the help of small town police officer (James Marsden). Cue the hilarious high jinks as Dr Robotnik attempts to capture Sonic and use his powers to take over the world.

Yeah, it's all very strange, but even weirder is Sonic's appearance. Sonic has had a little glow up and isn't quite how he looked almost 30 years ago. He's still blue and has his iconic spikes, but with the help of CGI he's looking more real than ever.

And let's talk about the teeth. Sonic – a hedgehog – is sporting a full set of human teeth. Who actually decided to give Sonic veneers?

Needless to say, Sonic's pearly whites were a massive talking point on social media.
