"We can't even have a useless social media campaign to save The Good Place because it wasn't cancelled they chose to end it". Fans and cast members react to news that The Good Place will end after season 4 which airs Fall 2019.

The Good Place will end at NBC after season 4, the show's creator has confirmed. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Good Place showrunner, Mike Schur, revealed that the popular show will come to an end after its next season, which airs in the fall. The Good Place does not appear to have been cancelled, and Schur revealed in the interview that he "came to the conclusion pretty quickly" that the show would have 4 seasons only.

Schur told The Hollywood Reporter: "There were times early on where I felt like maybe five and maybe it's three. Once I settled on four seasons, I didn't tell anyone — except the writers."

"I didn't tell the studio or network because I wanted to make sure that I was right and I wanted to leave open the possibility that, as we as a team developed the show, I wanted to allow the possibility that something could change and there was more I wanted to do. But it was pretty much always four from early on as a general map."

Fans as well as the cast of The Good Place reacted to the news on social media.

Jameela Jamil wrote on Twitter: "YOU HEARD CORRECT, This next season is the FINAL season of @nbcthegoodplace because Mike Schur is the classiest motherforkingshirtball ever and wanted to leave you at the right time in the right way. We love you and we hope you love our goodbye."

In a letter posted to Twitter, Mike Schur wrote:

"At times over the past few years we've been tempted to go beyond four seasons, but mostly because making this show is a rare, creatively fulfilling joy, and at the end of the day we don't want to tread water just because the water is so warm and pleasant."

The Good Place will air its final season this fall.
