Netflix's New Murder Documentary Has A 100% Rating On Rotten Tomatoes

Netflix's brand new true crime documentary has dropped online and everyone is absolutely obsessed with it.

If you thought Netflix's Making A Murderer was good, you're probably gonna lose your minds over their new true crime documentary, The Staircase. The Staircase follows the story of Michael Peterson, a crime novelist accused of killing his wife Kathleen after she is found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their home with suspicious and inconsistent injuries.

After dropping on Netflix on June 8th, the show has already received a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes with critics absolutely losing their minds over it. It hasn't even got a single 'rotten' review.

The show isn't technically 'new' - in fact, the original series aired in 2005 and was followed by two more episodes in 2011. But Netflix have now acquired the whole thing, and they've added THREE new episodes surrounding the court hearings from 2016.

Without giving away any spoilers (and seriously, DO NOT google it because it'll have you gripped from the very beginning), here's what you need to know about the story so far: Peterson claims his wife had simply fallen down the stairs, but Kathleen's injuries (bludgeon marks to her head and covered in blood) weren't consistent with someone who had simply fallen. Peterson, who was also the only person in the house with Kathleen on the night she died, was later charged with murder by the authorities who believed he had attempted to cover it up the murder by making it look like an accident.

The plot thickens with investigators uncovering details about Peterson's life that only Kathleen knew and the details of the death of Peterson's friend Elizabeth Ratliff, who - you guessed it - was also found dead at the bottom of a staircase with injuries similar to Kathleen's. There's also an argument in which an owl (yes, an owl) is blamed for Kathleen's head injuries.

Basically, there's a lot of twists and turns that will leave you staring into the darkness of your bedroom at 3am, looking like the confused meme lady as you try to add it all up and come to a solid conclusion.

Needless to say, everyone is absolutely LOSING it over the show on Twitter.

The Staircase is available to watch on Netflix RIGHT NOW and seriously, like we said, don't google it. Book a day off, save it for the weekend, whatever... watch the whole thing in one go. It's gonna be your new obsession.
