Vanessa is currently promoting her new Netflix film The Knight Before Christmas. Reception to Vanessa's Christmas films has been overwhelmingly positive but the former Disney actress has now expressed wishes to broaden her filming repertoire. In doing, so she's said that she wants to work with Woody Allen despite the allegations made against him – and now she's being called out for it.

Speaking to LA Times, Vanessa said she feels like she's "barely scratched the surface" of her aspirations. Vanessa explained that she dreams of working with award-winning directors, such as Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Vanessa then controversially mentioned that she'd also like to work with Woody Allen. She said: "I love Woody Allen films. ‘Vicky Christina Barcelona’ is one of my favourite movies.

The interviewer then asked Vanessa if the allegations of sexual abuse against Woody would deter her from starring in one of his films (Woody Allen's daughter Dylan Farrow accused him of sexual assault in 1992). Vanessa then replied saying: “I don’t know him. I’ve never met him. I only know what I’ve heard. And the fact is, I love his films and I love the romantic worlds that are created within."

Unsurprisingly, people are angry with Vanessa's words and they've taken to social media to express their disappointment. A person tweeted: "im tired of famous women not believing woody allens victims!!!!!! fuck selena gomez, fuck scarjo, and fuck vanessa hudgens." Meanwhile, another wrote: "it is honestly gross you’d see voluntarily work with assaulters."

As it stands, Vanessa is yet to respond to the backlash. We shall update you if she does.
