Riverdale Fans, Please Stop Asking Cole Sprouse And Lili Reinhart If They're Dating
27 March 2018, 16:16
You’ll actually cringe when you see this fan ask Cole and Lili the one million dollar question.
We all know that rumours about Riverdale's Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart off-screen relationship have been swirling around the internet for months and months, and also know that the pair have never confirmed anything. But during a live event with the rest of the cast, they were forced to address their personal relationship again and like, seriously, it's gotta stop.
At the Riverdale panel at PaleyFest in LA on Sunday (March 25), the cast of the show all sat down to discuss their characters and the completely wild and ludicrous storylines that were happening in season two of the show. Luke Perry, Marisol Nichols, Madelaine Petsch, KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, Ashleigh Murray, Mädchen Amick, Skeet Ulrich were all in attendance, alongside Lili and Cole.
About half an hour in, the moderator opened up the floor for fan questions - and that's when it all went to shit. After a few great questions about the show, one fan stood up and asked Cole and Lili the one question we would NEVER even dream of asking them IRL. (You can watch the exact moment from the panel in the video below.)
"Cole and Lili, there's been a lot of rumours of you guys dating. Are you dating?"
"Was that the question or a statement? Because you're right." Cole said at first. The fan then asked the question again, to which Cole finessed his way out of the question by muttering an iconic "no comment" into the microphone on his jacket.
After the question was asked, the whole panel got HELLA awkward and you could even hear Madelaine say "such an inappropriate question" before Marisol replied with a "but they opened it up."
Of course, we know that this excited fan and the rest fandom never mean any harm but come on... you've seen the intrusive paparazzi beach pictures and you know that Lili and Cole have already stated in many interviews that they don't want to talk about it or make it public, so why not let them be? They don't owe anyone anything. You don't have a right to know everything about their private lives. While we may be interested in Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones' love life, Lili and Cole should be able to go about their work without people prying for personal information.
To be fair, maybe the audience questions should have been screened before hand too? It's a panel regarding the show and the characters, not a forum to discuss the personal lives of the actors.
So until they actually confirm it, let them live. Stop asking the damn question.
