This Theory About Betty And The "Real" Black Hood Will Send You Into Full Conspiracy Mode

What's the truth.gif?
Ever since the Black Hood was revealed on Riverdale, the fandom has truly been living in denial. The reveal itself was the most underwhelming plot twist of all time and people are literally refusing to be believe that the show's main storyline is over as we know it.
The reveal hasn't stopped people from coming up with new theories about the Black Hood though and the latest one will make you question everything. This theory suggests that Betty - or should we say "Dark Betty" - is actually the real Black Hood. And it's wild.
We mean, it's a fair theory. She HAS been the only one that's been communicating with him. She was the only one able to solve the Nancy Drew-inspired code on the letter. The way she chillingly hands over Nick St Clair's name on the phone. She saves the hood she found in the Conway house from the fire. Basically, the Black Hood knows (or knew) more about Betty than almost everyone else in her life.
This theory dishes up the idea that Dark Betty is the one orchestrating this whole thing. Seeing as Betty never remembers what happens when she experiences these episodes, it could be possible that she has no idea about it herself and she's been tormenting herself this whole time.
HOWEVER... As much as we love a good theory, we've gotta call this one out on a few things:
1) Archie, Fred, Pop, Moose and Midge have all literally seen The Black Hood in real life with their own eyes. He is a well-built man. Not a 5ft something, slim, teenage girl. The theory mentions the all important green eyes but physically, this isn't making any sense.
2) While Lili Reinhart isn't convinced that the jig is up, it sounds like the storyline as we know it, is kind of done and dusted. Show-runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TV Line: “I think the Black Hood saga, as we’ve been playing it, is over. There’s still going to be a lot of fallout from the Black Hood, though, to play.” So what's the truth.gif?
Of course, there's still the possibility that Conway was a decoy or imposter that was hired by someone to carry out the dirty work. Many people still think it's Hiram Lodge, Hal Cooper or Sheriff Keller himself but... could it have actually been Betty instead? We're not sure on that one.
