Elijah Daniel vs. KJ Apa and the cast of Riverdale is a beef we never expected.
2018 has undoubtably been the Year of the Twitter Feud™ but just when you thought we were done for the year, a new beef has emerged involving the cast of Riverdale and Elijah Daniel.
Yesterday (Dec 14), Elijah fired shots at The CW teen drama when he tweeted about how bad he thought the show was, saying: "does the riverdale fanbase know the show sucks and don’t care or do they just not know"

The responses to his comment were pretty varied. The fandom flocked to support the show and the rest... well, they agreed with him.
A few hours later, KJ Apa caught wind of the tweet and decided to hit back with spicy comment. Replying to Elijah's initial drag, KJ wrote: "Do your fans know that you’re a fuckn idiot or do they just not care?"

Following KJ's response, a bunch of other Riverdale actors chimed in to defend their show too. Ashleigh Murray had something to say about Elijah's initial comment, Camila Mendes liked KJ's response and Hayley Law slid into the convo with a gif.
Lol he’s worried about a fanbase when none of us know who he is. People recognize me from the back of my head. What do you do?

Elijah, never one to back down, responded to the backlash of his original tweet a few hours later with even more comments about the show and wasn't phased by the replies from the cast members either.

WELL THEN. A beef we never expected, nor one that we ever asked for.
Obviously, Riverdale is not without its faults... It has always been plagued with negative comments on Twitter for several reasons: some fair, understandable and important (like queerbaiting and lack of screen time for characters of colour and LGBT ships), and others completely unnecessary and often insulting to those who work hard on the show.
But at the end of the day, it's a campy, heightened teen drama that a LOT of people watch, and that a lot of people happen to enjoy very much. And that's that.
