"I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That's incredibly private."

Lili Reinhart has furiously denied discussing her alleged break-up from her boyfriend and Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse in a recent interview.

Earlier this year, it was rumoured that Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse had parted ways after two years of dating. However, to this day, neither have publicly confirmed that their relationship has ended.

On Tuesday (Aug 18), Lili did an extremely personal interview with Refinery 29 where she opened up about her mental health issues and upcoming projects. She said: "I couldn't see the light. I was like, I feel like I'm dying. It was fucking rough, and there's no other way through it than just through it.

"I've seen a lot of people when it comes to heartache and grief and breakups, and they try to get that void filled with sex, with coke, with food, with drinking, [but] the void is still there. I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my shit. I had to face my own pain head-on."

She added: "The last couple of months have probably [been] the most emotional few months of my entire life and my therapist [told] me, 'Your body's going through withdrawal from love. You're used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you're with.'"

And, speaking about opening up about her emotions and past relationships in her upcoming poetry book Swimming Lessons, she continued: "I am scared that people are going to try and create their own idea of what my love life looked or looks like. I'm not saying, 'My boyfriend fucked another woman'. I'm saying, 'I felt betrayed'."

Many thought that Lili was actually confirming her split from Cole and her heartbreak over it. But Lili set the record straight on Twitter, insisting that wasn't the case.

She tweeted: "Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a 'breakup'. They are about the depression I've felt over these last few months. Tired of people taking my words out of context and piecing together their own story for clickbait.

"I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That's incredibly private. I was addressing my depression."

Well, that's that on that.
