'Riverdale' Is FINALLY Doing A Parent Flashback Episode But There's A HUGE Twist

We're FINALLY about to see the parents of 'Riverdale' in high school... but some fans aren't into HOW it's gonna do down.
Ever since Riverdale began, the majority of the fandom have been itching to see a flashback episode that involved the hot parents of Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica, Cheryl, Josie and Kevin when they were all students at Riverdale High. There's SO much history hidden intertwined with each and every adult character, it was only a matter of time before the writers laid it all out on the table for us.
From Fred and FP's Archie/Jughead-like friendship to the teenage romances between Fred and Hermione and FP and Alice, there's almost too much to delve in to. Why did Alice steal the school bus? Were Fred and FP's band as terrible as Archie with a guitar? How did Hermione meet Hiram? Was Penelope always such a bitch? And of course, what the HELL happened during that infamous argument at Homecoming involving Alice and Hal?
The First Footage Of 'Riverdale' Season 3 Has Arrived And It Looks TERRIFYING
Well, it looks like we might be about to find out the answers to a lot of those questions because it's just been confirmed that a parent flashback episode WILL be happening pretty early on in season 3.
Speaking on the Riverdale panel at San Diego Comic Con, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that we'll be getting some insight into the pasts of the parents on the show, which is GREAT NEWS. But there's a twist... and not everyone is that into it.
Yes, we'll be seeing the parents back in their high school days, but according to RAS, the kids will be playing their younger selves. That means we'll be getting KJ Apa playing a young Fred Andrews, Lili Reinhart playing a young Alice, Camila Mendes playing a young Hermione and of course, Cole Sprouse playing a young FP.
While no one can argue that the casting for this show is anything less than perfect, the fans aren't quite convinced they'll be able to pull it off. Some fans, however, are totally down for it.
They are planning on doing a flashback episode, where the kids play their parents in high school. THAT IS AMAZING #Riverdale #WBSDCC #SDCC #SDCC2018

we need to like make a fucking petition or something to get Riverdale to cast different actors to play the parents in high school. I’m not accepting this.

I just sat here laughing over the fact that the kids are gonna play the young parents, but like....how is Camila gonna play both Hiram and Hermione? And how will KJ play both Fred and Mary? Hmmm....What great acting challenges they all have this season. 😌

So the younger cast are playing their characters' parents as teens in a flashback episode. Idk how I feel about Cole playing teen!FP... 😕

.
SEVERAL POINTS WERE MADE!! And yeah... seeing as Archie is an only child and Hal doesn't have a son, who's going to be playing Mary Andrews and Papa Coop? (And Hiram Lodge, assuming he actually lived in Riverdale as a teenager?) Whatever happens, we're sure it will be fine, right? RIGHT?
It was also revealed at Comic Con that the parents would also be filming at LOT more scenes together this season. The reason? It's about to be revealed that they all collectively share one big secret. CLASSIC RIVERDALE. How To Get Away With Murder season one, anyone?
