Veronica finding out about Archie and Betty while she's at prom? OOF.

And just like that, Riverdale is officially back in business.

After wrapping season 4 up early due to the coronavirus, and experiencing a 3 month delay in filming, the trailer for season 5 has officially dropped and the characters of Riverdale are truly back on their bullshit.

Riverdale season 5 is set to have a seven-year time jump that will see our beloved messy teens age into beloved messy 20-somethings. With all new villains, a core four shake up and plenty of drama, the next chapter of The CW show is set to be a wild one.

Riverdale season 5 will premiere on Wednesday 20th January. Watch the trailer at the top of the page.

What will happen in Riverdale season 5?

The first three episodes will pick up where season 4 left off. In case you don't already know, Riverdale season 4 was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first three episodes will see the teens go to prom, graduate and then go their separate ways.

The third episode will also reveal how Skeet Ulrich's FP Jones exits the show. We'll also hopefully find out who was sending those creepy video tapes.

Then, the show will fast forward SEVEN years and everything changes.

According to a report from That Hashtag Show, a few members of the core four will also have new love interests – and one will be married.

Archie Andrews will return to Riverdale after the time jump. It appears as though he is a coach at Riverdale High and works as the Riverdale Fire Department. Kevin Keller is also a teacher at Riverdale High and is in an on-again-off-again relationship with Fangs.

Vanessa Morgan's Toni Topaz, at long last, is the Serpent Queen and it sounds like she will finally get her backstory and a whole lot more screen time! We're set to be introduced to her family too.

Hermione Lodge will now be sticking around in a recurring capacity after Marisol Nichols' departure was reversed. Hermione will now "be back stronger and better than ever.” Hiram Lodge is also "up to [his] old shenanigans", according to Mark Consuelos.

Tabitha Tate, Pop Tate's granddaughter will be arriving in town too. Tabitha comes to Riverdale to take over Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe in the hopes of franchising the iconic diner.

Oh, and the main mystery of the season? It looks like it involves a truck that cruises the highway at night.

See you in January!
