People Are LIVING For Loretta Devine’s Role In 'Sierra Burgess Is A Loser'

Fans of 'Grey's Anatomy' will instantly recognise Loretta Devine.

The highly anticipated teen film Sierra Burgess Is A Loser dropped on Netflix last week (Friday 7) and the internet can't stop talking about it - for both good and bad reasons.

It's no secret that the movie has drawn some criticism from critics and audiences due to the transphobic and homophobic dialogue in the film, as well as the offensive depiction of deaf people. But at the same time, fans of the film are raving about the performances by certain members of the cast; from Noah Centineo's role as Jamey and Shannon Purser's incredible vocals on Sierra's song 'Sunflower' to the role of Sierra's English teacher, Mrs Thompson.

In fact, people are only just realising who plays the English teacher in the film and it's blowing people's minds.

Mrs. Thomson is, of course, played by the legendary Loretta Devine, who also played the iconic Adele Webber on Grey's Anatomy.

While many of you will know Devine from her Emmy-winning work on the medical drama, there's a ton of other stuff she's been in too.

Devine has also had TV roles on Boston Public and The Client List and has made appearances in Supernatural, Glee, Dear White People and Disney's Shake It Up to name a few. And you might also recognise her from her roles in Dreamgirls, Crash, What Women Want and Waiting To Exhale alongside Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett.

Anyway, people are slowly coming to realisation that Mrs Webber is in our midsts and the general consensus is... she's the best part of the film.
