The 'Stranger Things' star and his band just landed a deal with Royal Mountain Records.
Finn Wolfhard is only 14-years-old but he's definitely not taking any breaks. Soaring high off the success of this year's IT and Stranger Things season 2, Finn is diving into new music with his band, Calpurnia.
The Vancouver based four-piece announced that they have signed with Royal Mountain records and are currently recording their debut EP.
All of us are #together and ready to start recording today!— Calpurnia The Band (@calpurniaband) November 20, 2017
The band will be working on their first release, with the lead singer of Twin Peaks, Cadien Lake James, on producer duty.
Being signed to Royal Mountain records means that Calpurnia is labelmates with Mac Demarco and PUP, bands they have expressed fondness for in the past.
Finn released a statement expressing his excitement over the band's new label.
“It is so sweet that we have such a good team at Royal Mountain Records. I love everyone on it. I’m extremely excited to record our EP with Cadien Lake James. Not only is he in one of my favorite bands of all time, and recorded some of my favorite songs, but he is also the sweetest guy ever. Thanks everyone so much who helped us out along the way, it means the world. <3”
Who are the members of Calpurnia?
Ayla Tesler-Mabe is a 16-year-old musician and Malcolm Craig is an actor who has appeared on CW's Frequency and A&E's Bates Motel. Jack Anderson is an avid photographer in addition to being a bassist in Calpurnia.
What does Calpurnia sound like?
The young musicians are definitely talented and seem to draw inspiration from alternative rock acts like The Pixies, Weezer, and Twin Peaks, to name a few.
They also have original music that they've performed live.
When is Calpurnia releasing their EP?
Calpurnia's as-yet titled EP looks to be arriving in 2018. There's no word yet on how a potential third season of Stranger Things would impact the promotion and release of their EP. We're not too worried, though. If anyone can do it it's Finn, Jack, Ayla, and Malcolm.
