The final episode of season 1 finishes on a pretty big cliffhanger. James and Alyssa – played by Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden - are tracked down by the police.

Alyssa is caught while James runs away and it ends on the ominous sound of a gun shot and the screen turning blank. The show could leave it there, like in the comics, but there is clearly so much that could be explored in the fall out.

Details of what actually happens in season 2 are still under wraps of course but what we do know is that there will be a new character called Bonnie (played by Naomi Ackie), who is described an outsider with a troubled past and a mysterious connection to Alyssa.

And...that the new season will be set two years after the events of season one. Seeing as James is nowhere to be seen in the new promo pictures, his whereabouts will no doubt be a big plot point.

Season one dropped on Netflix three months after it originally aired on Channel 4. While the show will arrive on Netflix, it sounds like it will once again air on Channel 4 first.

“Next time we’ll run the whole series on the channel,” Channel 4 boss Ian Katz told Deadline, “then there will be a conventional hold back of more than a year before people see it on Netflix. It really bugs me that people think that show is a Netflix show; I really want to reclaim ownership of it – it’s absolutely a Channel 4 show.”
