Fans of 'The Originals' have taken to Twitter to express their feelings about the 5X13 finale and...they're definitely not pleased.

CW's The Originals drew to a close this week. The Julie Plec produced successor to The Vampire Diaries enjoyed a five season run before bowing out in its 92nd episode.

While all good things must come to an end, the deaths of two major characters at the very end left many fans shocked and disappointed.

Warning, spoilers ahead.

In season 5 episode 13, When The Saints Go Marching In, fans bid a tearful farewell to Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson as Hope's upcoming Legacies storyline further unfolded.

While fans always knew the series could draw to a close with the death of at least one major character (we saw it in The Vampire Diaries finale, as well), it didn't stop some viewers from finding the show's parting scenes to be less than satisfactory.

Fans expressed displeasure with how the series concluded Klaus and Caroline's storyline. Fans also hoped to see a Hayley and Elijah reunion dance as a callback to the couple's parting words earlier in the season.

Even if you didn't mind the series finale, you have to admit that these 1,000+ year old vampires could have gotten a more epic ending.

In an interview with TVLine, Julie Plec explained that Klaus' death was pretty much inevitable. "I can't see it having ended any other way," she told the publication.

Expanding on Hope's emotional scars from being orphaned, Julie explained that all her newfound emotional baggage would make her a dynamic character in Legacies.

Here is everything The Originals and The Vampire Diaries fans need to know about CW's Legacies

"She’s going to have bruises and damage that she didn’t have prior to the end of this. She’s going to be a young woman with a lot of emotional scars, and I think that’ll make for a more dynamic heroine."

Well, at least there's that to look forward to, right Originals fans?
