Get excited!

It's basically a rite of passage for each member of a band like Vampire Weekend to release a solo effort. When you achieve huge success amongst the Urban outfitted masses, you inevitably get the urge to spread your creative wings and dust off the old loop machine.

See: Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, who put out a brilliant album with Wes Miles (Ra Ra Riot).

Bassist Chris Baio is trying his hand at a solo record with his debut release, The Names--out in September. If you can think of the furthest thing from Vampire Weekend, Chris Baio's new music is that thing.

Ambient, hip, and very "London in the summer", Chris has managed to capture a vibe altogether divorced from "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa".
