What's Eating Gilbert's video for "You're The Most" is the 50's-infused pop punk you never knew you needed.
Ever wondered what a musical hybrid of pop punk and rockabilly styles would sound like? Yeah, us neither; but it turns out the combination is kind of amazing.
Chad Gilbert, also known as the guitarist of New Found Glory, also also known as the fiancé of Hayley Williams, also also also known as What's Eating Gilbert, has released the video for "You're The Most", the debut single of his side project's first full-length album That New Sound You're Looking For. And the song definitely lives up to the album title's promise: It's a half-50's, half-early 00's jam guaranteed to brighten up your Thursday afternoon.
The video is also Chad's directorial debut, and the vintage primetime TV vibe suits the honesty of the song pretty well. The carefree lyrics and 50's-style "shoop-shoops" create an optimistically punk sound that we probably haven't heard since maybe the earlier days of Weezer or Bowling For Soup.
That New Sound You're Looking For is available for pre-order on iTunes and will be released in July.
