Ariana Grande has apologised for crying while singing about Mac Miller on the Sweetener tour.

Ariana launched her Sweetener tour last week to widespread critical acclaim. Not only does the show see Ariana perform all of her signature hits and more (there's around 30 songs on the set list) but she also shows off what an incredible talent she is.

Ariana also pays tribute to her late ex, beloved rapper Mac Miller just before the show, and now she's apologised to fans for getting emotional and crying on stage in Washington, D.C..

Last night's show (Mar 25) marked six years since Ariana released her first collaboration with Mac called 'The Way' and during one or two songs which are about Mac, Ariana struggled to sing. Fans captured her breaking down in tears during a rendition of 'goodnight n go' and noticed that she was unable to sing most of 'thank u, next' after the line: "Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm // 'Cause he was an angel".

Fans began tweeting about Ariana's emotional night and sent her love on social media.

As soon as the concert ended, Ariana took to Twitter to thank her fans. She wrote: "thanks for accepting my humanness. it’s super emo and difficult singing some of these songs. but you make me smile. i look like penny pingleton here. i love u and thanks. i feel your warmth up there and it helps and is greatly appreciated."

It should go without saying that Ariana has nothing to apologise for.

Ahead of last night's D.C. show, Ariana shared an Instagram story saying "six years" in reference to Mac and the anniversary of 'The Way'. She also posted a selfie on Instagram with his dog Myron and the caption "real protective wit my soullll where YOUUUUUU been".

Ariana also held and Instagram Q&A and when a fan asked how she was she wrote: "i am just grateful to be here. with many people i love.... i have a beautiful support system, i love my job, and i really am just grateful to be here. p.s. i love you too!"
