Billie Eilish has spoken out about the need for gun safety in a new video and urged fans to get involved, saying “nobody in charge is doing anything”.

Posting a video to her Instagram story yesterday, Billie Eilish spoke of the need to take action and shared a way fans could help, after recent mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio claimed at least thirty lives.

“Hey guys, it’s Billie. I’m making this video right now to talk about how scared and worried I am about the fucking shootings that have been going on and how nobody in charge is doing anything to change anything at all and how I literally can’t stand it.”

She then shares details of a text services which allows people in the US to contact your senator in support of required back checks on all gun sales. “Text the word ‘CHECKS’ to 644-33. You can connect to one of your US senators and ask them to take action on gun safety, just to help. Please, just help. Love you.”

It’s not the first time Billie has spoken out on important issues either. She recently spoke out about her experience with body dysmorphia and panic attacks to Rolling Stone, saying that she started to feel uncomfortable in her skin when she was just twelve.

“That was probably when I was the most insecure,” she said. “I wasn’t as confident. I couldn’t speak and just be normal. When I think about it or see pictures of me then, I was so not OK with who I was.”
