"So many people supporting and loving you right now don't forget that."
Matty Healy's fans have been rallying around The 1975 frontman following a tough few days. Matty recently made a bold statement by kissing one of his male fans at a recent tour date in Dubai, where homosexuality is illegal.

The 1975 are vocal LGBTQ+ allies and the kiss occurred whilst the band played 'Loving Someone', which is particularly popular with their LGBTQ+ fans because of its lyrics.
Matty was initially commended for taking a stance against Dubai's harsh anti-LGBTQ+ laws, which include up to 10 years imprisonment, chemical castration and a heavy fine.
However, soon there were concerns for the fan's welfare following unconfirmed rumours that they were being hunted by local police for breaking the law. Many called for the video to be deleted to protect the fan's identity, while Matty was blamed for potentially putting the fan in danger.
In response, Matty then posted a tweet (which has now been deleted) that read: "I’m not sure if can do this anymore. I'm so sorry." The tweet left many worried for his mental health. However, Matty followed his tweet up with another apologising.
He said: "Sorry I shouldn’t have tweeted that it’s just been a very intense couple of days I love you all so so much."

Matty's parents Denise Welch and Tim Healy also confirmed he was all good after seeing his tweet.
Spoke to Matty he is fine now. He tried to support gay rights in a country where it is illegal to be gay.Authority came down on him. I’ve assured him he did the right thing and I am so proud of him we have to love all people whatever colour or gender simple as that xxx https://t.co/uQAtZceTYC— Tim Healy (@TheRealTimHealy) August 15, 2019

i know he has been a dumbass multiple times but he has such a beautiful soul and i WILL defend him because he DOES care.
he would never, ever intentionally hurt anyone.
No change in history was ever made without taking a risk and although I know he would of been worried about that afterwards his heart was completely in the right place and we all love him for that x— Katie Butterworth (@popsandpeanut) August 15, 2019
you didn’t know this would happen. you put on the same wonderful performance as you always do and made those kids feel safe for the longest you could.— 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘦 ☾ (@drawpetrichor) August 15, 2019

Things are tense and weird and scary and it’s not your fault. Take a deep breath. People are saying he’s okay and everything is okay. Just close your eyes and breathe.. your shoulders will never be big enough for all of it and that’s okay
You are very strong. And you face a lot of people's lives. Please don't blame yourself for anything. And if you would like to take time off to focus on your mental health we totally umderstand. We love you.— Hannah (@realxlovexhurts) August 15, 2019
