But what do those numbers on the locker mean in the teaser video?
Netflix has confirmed that 13 Reasons Why has been renewed for a third season.
In a tweet posted from the official 13 Reasons Why Twitter account, they wrote: "What happens now? Season 3 of #13ReasonsWhy is coming."
It is accompanied by a video in which an unknown student from Liberty High is seen unlocking a school locker to retrieve a lunch bag. When the door of the locker is slammed shut, the number '3' appears.

The locker code is just “20” “1” “9” saying it’s coming in 2019— Raquel Sosnovich (@RaquelSosnovich) June 6, 2018
Stares intensely to see locker code to know if there’s a meaning... It’s 20-1-9 🤷🏾♀️ pic.twitter.com/Sdg6Pg7LsA— ‘Chelle 🏳️🌈 (@sincerely_chell) June 6, 2018
Previously in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, show runner Brain Yorkey said about the possibility of a third season: "I always think there's more story to tell, but I think that depends on viewers and everyone's reaction to it and whether it's important to keep telling the story."
"With the second season, we feel as with the first that we're following the stories of these characters. I do think that our interest in a second season was because we wanted to continue to follow these people," he continued."If there is a future for the show, to me, it's about these characters, and not necessarily a new set of reasons or a new set of tapes. Someone else might do that, but that's not my job to do that."
