Will there be a HSMTMTS season 3?

Yes. On Sep 13, Disney+ took to Twitter to confirm that they had officially renewed High School Musical: The Musical: The Series for a third season. Disney+ tweeted: "Buckle up for Season 3, Wildcats".

When does HSMTMTS season 3 come out?

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 will debut on Disney+ on July 23, 2022. The official HSMTMTS Instagram account announced the news on May 21 with a clip from the season and the caption: "One word: CHILLS. 😱 @CorbinBleu is joining Season 3 of #HSMTMTS, streaming July 27 on #DisneyPlus!"

In a TIME profile, Olivia Rodrigo confirmed that filming started in January 2022. Episodes will probably air weekly on Disney+ like the first two seasons.

Who will be in the HSMTMTS season 3 cast?

All of our faves from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2 are returning in season 3. So you can expect to see icons Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Matt Cornett (E.J.), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Larry Sapperstein (Big Red), Julia Lester (Ashlyn), Dara Renée (Kourtney), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos) and Joe Seradini (Seb) all come back.

Olivia Rodrigo fans who are concerned that her new career as a singer may stop Nini from appearing in season 3 don't have to worry. Olivia told The Guardian in May 2021 that she's currently "committed to HSM for two more years" and told TIME that she will be in season 3. However, she will no longer be a main character.

Mark St Cyr. (Mr. Benjamin Mazzara) and Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn), who play East High's favourite teachers will also return for more HSMTMTS fun. Meanwhile, season 2 stars Olivia Rose Keegan (Lily), Roman Banks (Howie) and Derek Hough (Zack) will also all come back.

No to mention, Jordan Fisher (Jamie) will likely take on a bigger role in season 3 given that Nini sticks around.

As for new characters, the season will be set at a Camp Rock style summer camp called Camp Shallow Lake. Adrian Lyles will play Jet, Camp Shallow Lake’s mysterious new kid. Saylor Bell will play Maddox, a quick-witted techie, and Meg Donnelly will play Val, a confident camper-turned-counsellor-in-training.

Meanwhile, Hannah Montana's Jason Earles will play Dewey Wood, the Camp Director of Camp Shallow Lake and Corbin Bleu, who plays Chad in the original movies, will appear as himself.

What will the musical in HSMTMTS season 3 be?

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 musical will be Frozen. As we've mentioned, the season will be set at the fictional Camp Shallow Lake. Here the kids of East High will be tasked with putting on a production of Frozen.

However, in keeping with the camp theme, there will also be songs from Camp Rock and the High School Musical films at large. Not to mention, the season will feature original songs just like season 1 and 2.

HSMTMTS showrunner Tim Federle previously told Hollywood Life: "Choosing the musical for the show is hard because there are so many possibilities. You can go way, way off, you can go High School Musical 3, you can create a new musical."

What will happen in HSMTMS season 3?

HSMTMTS season 2 ends with East High deciding to pull out of the Alan Menken Awards for High School Musical theatre, and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 will see our faves from East High travel to the fictional Camp Shallow Lake for a Camp Rock style summer.

In terms of what we can expect in season 3, HSMTMTS showrunner Tim Federle let slip to Hollywood Life: "I always like picking up right where you left off because I think that’s the nature of streaming TV today, which is very sensible. I have a couple of ideas for season 3, but ultimately it’s got to start at that greenlight so I’m hoping to get the chance."

As for romance, as it stands, Ricky and Nini have broken up, Gina and E.J. are together, Big Red and Ashlyn are together, Kourtney and Howie are together and Carlos and Seb are together but everything can change in a new season.

It looks like Ricky and Lily may start a relationship going into season 3. It also seems likely that Nini will start working with Gina's brother Jamie on original music. With this in mind, it's possible that Nini won't show up at Camp Shallow Lake. Meanwhile, Gina and E.J. appear to have finally worked things out.

Elsewhere, we should find out if Mr. Mazarra declines his new job offer and begins dating Miss Jenn.

What songs will be in the HSMTMTS season 3 soundtrack?

We don't know specifics just yet. However, given that the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 musical is Frozen, and we now know that songs from Camp Rock and the other High School Musical films will feature, we can expect lots of bops. 'Let It Go', 'This Is Me' and 'Fabulous' could all be included.

Not to mention, there will also be some original songs just like the first two seasons

Is there a HSMTMTS season 3 trailer yet?
