NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY ALICE JOINED THE FARM.

Ever since Riverdale season 3 began, there's been one big mysterious looming threat over the town. No, we're not talking about Hiram Lodge or the Gargoyle King... we're talking about the cult called 'The Farm' and its leader, Edgar Evernever.

We've already seen his influence across the town, in the school and in the Cooper home - particularly with Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick), who has been steadily falling deeper and deeper into the clutches of The Farm since episode 1. But despite Evernever's impact and the several name drops by Mama Coop, we've never actually met him - UNTIL NOW.

Everyone, say hello to the man who's about to charm you into joining his cult, your former teen crush, your favourite fictional basketball player that's not called Troy Bolton - Chad Michael Murray.

Yes, One Tree Hill's Lucas Scott himself, Murray, will be returning to The CW to play Evelyn's mysterious and ummm, we're not gonna lie, we totally and completely understand why Polly and Alice joined The Farm now. Pass me the raw milk and oat cookies! Hot Cult Leader Dads of Riverdale, am I RIGHT?!

When the casting call was first announced, it was revealed that the show was looking for an iconic 90s or 00s actor who could pull off being "attractive, in a neighbourly way, and charismatic with a wise, comforting presence." CHECK. CHECK. AAAAND CHECK.

Of course, we already know that Edgar is bad news for the entire town and his character description isn't exactly doing any favours to stop us all from worrying. “As the enigmatic leader of the cult-like Farm, Edgar arrives in Riverdale to spread his teachings and heal the ravaged soul of this once wholesome town. Edgar is a charming, handsome guru, but is he hiding a more sinister agenda?"

Please, not another sinister agenda. I can't take another sinister agenda in this town.

It's also been teased that Edgar will be a potential love interest for Alice too. He seems to have quite the stronghold on her, and she talks about him like he's the best thing since Oolong tea and healing crystals. (Falice shippers, stay strong.)

There's no word yet on when Edgar will show up in town but seeing as he's just been cast and the show was just filming the musical episode (episode 16), it sounds like the last handful of episodes of the season will revolve around Edgar and whatever culty dramatics he's been cooking up all season.

To be honest, we can't wait to meet him but also, if Alice Cooper gets hurt? We're fighting.

Get me Sheriff Jones, get me Fred Andrews, get me Tom Keller. We going ✈️ rescue mission planning.
