The "I hate clichés" meme is simple. Have you ever read a book and thought, "Wait a minute. This storyline is very familiar!"? Well, you're not alone. Almost all literature ranging from Wattpad novels to Shakespeare, relies on tropes in some way shape or form and the "I hate clichés" meme pokes fun at these tropes. Better yet, it also pokes fun at the ways in which we as readers tend to fall for these tropes time and time again.

All you have to do is write "I hate clichés" and then pick a cliché. For example almost all teen romance fanfiction features an enemies to lovers plot. You could write? "Me: I hate clichés" and then "Author: The protagonists were mortal enemies and then they fell in love", followed by: "Me, sobbing: OMG the protagonists were mortal enemies and then they fell in love". Confused? Here are just a few of the best ones so far.

These storylines always get me.

So there we have it. A perfect meme.
