2019 is really delivering on the meme front. It's only February and we've already been blessed with some of the funniest viral moments of all time. Over the course of the past two months alone, Kylie Jenner and the world record egg have launched a thousand memes, everyone has choked Sasuke and Shaggy from Scooby Doo has been transformed into an all-powerful overlord. It's been a wild few weeks.

However, the internet never sleeps and now Pokémon has inspired another iconic meme. Yesterday the video gaming series unveiled the trailer for its new Sword and Shield series for Nintendo Switch and it looks magnificent. Fans were immediately obsessed with the new starter Pokémon (Sobble, Scorbunny, Grookey) and region (Galar). Not only that but Galar looks so familiar it's spawned a meme.

Yes. The internet was quick to clock that Pokémon's new Galar region is inspired by the UK. From the country side aesthetic and urban landscapes to the character clothing and imitations of historic landmarks, it's very clear that Pokémon Sword and Shield has used Great Britain as inspiration for Galar. Naturally fans are now making British Pokémon memes and they are hilarious.
