"I just hated my body. I would have done anything to be in a different one."
Billie Eilish has always been very open about her body image. The singer has previously said that she used to have a "toxic" relationship with her body, which led her to wearing the baggy clothes we usually see her in.
Billie has now admitted that the poor relationship she had with her body was triggered when she hit puberty earlier than expected. Speaking to Vogue, she said: "I just hated my body. I would have done anything to be in a different one. I really wanted to be a model, really bad, and I was chubby and short.
"I developed really early. I had boobs at nine. I got my period at 11. So my body was going faster than my brain. It’s funny, because when you’re a little kid, you don’t think of your body at all. And all of a sudden, you look down and you’re, like, whoa. What can I do to make this go away?"
Billie's body and decision to conceal her shape is often a topic of conversation. When Billie was pictured wearing a tank top last year, the internet was flooded with inappropriate comments about her. The same happened when she shared a video of herself wearing a swimsuit earlier this year.
Billie's body image issues actually became so bad that her mental health suffered as a result. She has also previously spoken about a time when she considered taking her own life.
Thankfully, by June 2019, Billie's mental health started to improve.
She continued: "When people ask me what I’d say to somebody looking for advice on mental health, the only thing I can say is patience. I had patience with myself. I didn't take that last step. I waited. Things fade."
