Cutting a pivotal Nadia and Guzmán moment? Right in front of my salad?

If you've been anywhere near social media lately, you will have probably realised that Elite is a pretty huge deal. The Spanish Netflix original only came out a couple of weeks ago but it has since become a bit of an international phenomenon. Fans are obsessed with everything about it. Not only does it have a stellar cast (give them all awards) but it also has an amazing plot that has transfixed viewers around the world.

That's not all though. The series is being praised because of its amazing ships. Between the wild Samuel, Marina, Nano love triangle and polyamorous trio Christian, Carla and Polo, there's loads for fans to get their teeth stuck into. It's the romances between Ander and Omar and Nadia and Guzmán that are really dominating online discourse though. In fact, so much so that fans are losing it over a cut kiss scene.

Wait what? Yes believe it or not Netflix chose to cut a major kiss scene between Nadia and Guzmán. During a cast interview, Miguel Bernardeau who plays Guzmán revealed that he and Mina El Hammani who plays Nadia "kissed for real, they didn’t show it”. This would have been game-changing considering that, even though Nadia and Guzmán are clearly attracted to each other, they never act on it.

See the cast discuss it here.

It was later revealed that the scene was understandably deleted because it happened in the famous pool scene when Nadia was drugged. If they kept the kiss in, it would have a) crossed really murky lines in terms of consent and b) done away with all of Guzmán's growth as a character. Still, fans are pressed that Nadia and Guzmán almost had a kiss scene and Netflix didn't put another one in.

Here are just a few of the reactions.

That last tweet is really important but Netflix still could have added an unproblematic kiss between the two of them later on!

Thankfully fans need not worry. The cast have already hinted that Nadia and Guzmán will get the relationship they deserve in Season 2. In the same cast interview, Miguel referred to Nadia as Guzmán's "future girlfriend". In other words, Guzmán and Nadia hive are in for a treat next year.

See Miguel make the exciting revelation below.

Now if Netflix could drop Season 2 tomorrow that would be awesome.
