Cutting a pivotal Nadia and Guzmán moment? Right in front of my salad?
If you've been anywhere near social media lately, you will have probably realised that Elite is a pretty huge deal. The Spanish Netflix original only came out a couple of weeks ago but it has since become a bit of an international phenomenon. Fans are obsessed with everything about it. Not only does it have a stellar cast (give them all awards) but it also has an amazing plot that has transfixed viewers around the world.

That's not all though. The series is being praised because of its amazing ships. Between the wild Samuel, Marina, Nano love triangle and polyamorous trio Christian, Carla and Polo, there's loads for fans to get their teeth stuck into. It's the romances between Ander and Omar and Nadia and Guzmán that are really dominating online discourse though. In fact, so much so that fans are losing it over a cut kiss scene.
Wait what? Yes believe it or not Netflix chose to cut a major kiss scene between Nadia and Guzmán. During a cast interview, Miguel Bernardeau who plays Guzmán revealed that he and Mina El Hammani who plays Nadia "kissed for real, they didn’t show it”. This would have been game-changing considering that, even though Nadia and Guzmán are clearly attracted to each other, they never act on it.
See the cast discuss it here.
miguel is talking to mina and danna about scenes that didn’t make the cut; he tells mina “just like when we kissed for real, they didn’t show it”, mina agrees and danna is shocked because she didn’t know guzman and nadia kissed #EliteNetflix pic.twitter.com/FM1LOGlwwU— andy (@peterkavkinky) October 7, 2018
It was later revealed that the scene was understandably deleted because it happened in the famous pool scene when Nadia was drugged. If they kept the kiss in, it would have a) crossed really murky lines in terms of consent and b) done away with all of Guzmán's growth as a character. Still, fans are pressed that Nadia and Guzmán almost had a kiss scene and Netflix didn't put another one in.
Here are just a few of the reactions.
I can’t believe guzman and nadia kissed but they cut the part out smh— yasmeen (@Iitbieb) October 9, 2018
they really cut out a guzman & nadia kiss from the season pic.twitter.com/PyVfvjedRv— muna (@candiceswest) October 9, 2018

So i was watching elite’s cast doing interviews cause that’s what i do now apparently and the actors who play guzman and nadia just said that they actually kissed on that pool scene and they cut it #ELITE pic.twitter.com/sAMpsaXPEE— Houda (@unknitted) October 12, 2018
release the deleted scene where nadia and guzman kissed cowards @netflix— steph (@dearjohns) October 14, 2018
I just wanted a kiss from Guzman and Nadia #elite pic.twitter.com/Cx7vTrYaVt— deb (@miyoungwzy) October 13, 2018
SPOILER // if what i heard about the guznadia kiss scene was right then i’m glad they cut it. i’d rather have them build up the desire between these two than have their first kiss happen with a drugged nadia & a guzman who’d go in for that kiss with the intention to “expose” her.— kirstin (@sansaskylo) October 16, 2018
That last tweet is really important but Netflix still could have added an unproblematic kiss between the two of them later on!
Thankfully fans need not worry. The cast have already hinted that Nadia and Guzmán will get the relationship they deserve in Season 2. In the same cast interview, Miguel referred to Nadia as Guzmán's "future girlfriend". In other words, Guzmán and Nadia hive are in for a treat next year.
See Miguel make the exciting revelation below.
the cast is praising nadia for standing up to her dad; omar goes “that’s my sister!” and miguel follows with “that’s my future girlfriend!” which basically means we’ll get slowburn nadia + guzman in season 2 #EliteNetflix #Elite pic.twitter.com/rhRq59t8n8— andy (@peterkavkinky) October 9, 2018
Now if Netflix could drop Season 2 tomorrow that would be awesome.
