Zendaya’s mum said she had to name drop her daughter so she could get past security to see her at the Emmys.

The 26-year-old made history at the 2022 Emmys on Monday (Sept 12), becoming the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series twice, as well as the youngest actress to win two Emmys in the same category, for her portrayal of Rue in Euphoria.

After winning her award, Zendaya even sweetly revealed that her boyfriend Tom Holland was the first person she contacted after leaving the stage.

Zendaya’s mother, Claire Stoermer, revealed on Tuesday that she was with her daughter at the event and hugged her just before they announced her win - but the moment almost didn’t happen because she was challenged by security.

Sharing a photo of them hugging on her Instagram story, Claire went on to explain how she was stopped from approaching her daughter’s table.

"Made my way to Z before they awarded her the Emmy and gave her the biggest hug and said... breathe!!!" she wrote. "The man who tried to stop me said 'where are your credentials?' I said 'I'm Zendaya's mom' and kept walking!! hahaha! I never name drop like that but I have to do it!"

Zendaya's mom also gave a shout out to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley Levinson for looking after her daughter.

She captioned a story post of Zendaya with the Euphoria crew: "I love this group of people. When Z is working on Euphoria, I don't worry about her! @samlev00 and @ashlevinson thank you!!"

During her Emmys acceptance speech, Zendaya gave a shout out to her family, as well as saying her “greatest wish” for her character, who struggles with addiction in the show, was that it could help others.

Accepting her award, the star said: “My greatest wish for Euphoria is that it could help heal people. I’m so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”
